Jonathan M. Rixen was licensed as a registered patent agent in
2005 and as patent attorney in 2007. He is licensed to practice before
the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the Supreme
Court of the State of Minnesota. Jonathan is an associate with the
Lemaire Patent Law Firm, practicing in the areas of patent preparation,
prosecution, and related opinions. His primary technical focus includes
mechanical, optical, laser, magnetic, non-destructive testing,
epitaxial crystal synthesis, multi-layer composite armor, and chemical
engineering technologies.
Jonathan received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University (B.S.ChE,
With Distinction).
Jonathan's technical experience includes work as a lab technician for
the Center for Sustainable Environmental Technologies, where he
conducted and analyzed experiments pertaining to the effects of fly ash
on mercury oxidation during post-combustion conditions. An
abstract describes this work.
Jonathan also held a process engineering position at Cambrex Charles
City, Inc., where he created and executed validation protocols for new
pilot plant equipment, conducted environmental monitoring of the pilot
plant facilities, and wrote and revised standard operating procedures
for pilot plant equipment. In addition, Jonathan was an undergraduate
research assistant for the
Gonzalez Research Group, where he examined the anaerobic fermentation of glycerol in
E. coli and designed and applied a miniature fermentation system for use with the fermentation studies.
Jonathan graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 2007 (J.D.).
While at WMCL, Jonathan was an active member of the WMCL Student
Intellectual Property Law Association (SIPLA), and he continues to be a
member of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA)
and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
Jonathan loves the outdoors and attempts to get outside as much as possible by running, biking, and hiking. Jonathan recently completed his first triathlon and hopes to participate in more in the future. During the long Minnesota winters, Jonathan can be found perfecting his homebrewing skills and reading up on various world-history events.
